The Ladder Theory

So as it turns out, the author of the ladder theory has thoughts on religion, marriage, and feminism as well.

I read the theory and found it amusing and I think it has some truth to it. Here's Dallas Lynn's original page, where he also explains what an "intellectual whore" is, I found that part confusing and there's a link with the definition on the right hand side: http://www.intellectualwhores.com/index.html

I was also amused by his writing on feminism, especially the quote from Germaine Greer:

"The absurdity of the notion that there is someone 'out there' for everybody is obvious to anyone who has thought about it more than five seconds. Women's lives would be a lot easier if they started from the opposite premiss, that there is nobody 'out there' and they might as well get on with life and work."

But back to the Ladder Theory, its basic premise is that men want women only for sex and women want men for either sex or "friendship". The question involved is whether or not men and women can truly be friends. Let's leave aside for a moment of opposite gender friends and just look at same sex friends. How many real same sex friends do we have? How many of these friends can we truly rely on to give us an honest opinion and support us when we need them? If we as human beings have problems just making friends in general then we'll have even more problems trying to be friends with someone of the opposite sex. And just for the record, I don't think men and women can be friends, the sex thing always gets in the way. I love the "When Harry Met Sally" movie.
